1. I was an employee and close friend of the late James Howland Ballou (AIA), former owner of 14 Cambridge Street and well-known architect, historic preservationist and restoration specialist with a well-established practice when I worked for him summers of 1965-1969, while I was attending Rhode Island School of Design for my Bachelor of Architecture degree.
2. I admired Jim as my first mentor and loyal, engaging dear friend until his passing in the 1990's. As an early admirer of Samual McInyre's work, I reveled in the presence of the helical staircase and iconic mantle- pieces in this home. It was always a joy to visit Jim and Phyllis living an informal yet ceremonious family lifestyle here. 14 Cambridge will always hold a special place in my
