105 Derby Street
The Salem Histo~ic District Stucty describes the house at 105 Derby
st.
as:
"This house is rated high because it remains as it was
built - an excellent example of the small house of the Greek Revival
period.
The gable end is on the street with the gable pediment
clearly defined, a wide entablature, and a doorway formed with
typical Greek Revival trim.
There is an ell attached to the back
of this house, and there is a nice, small enclosed yard."
The land on which this house stands was once a portion of the
Samuel and Eunice Brown lot:

As previously shown, Amos L. Vincent acquired the west portion of
the estate on Sept. 28, 1854.
This made him the first sole owner
since 1771.
Mr. Vincent made many changes in 1856.
On April 14 he applied for
a permit to move a building "by Derby Street"r(the term "by Derby
Street" seems to imply that the building was moved to another Derby
Street site.)
